Jolly Phonics

 Jolly Phonic is specially designed and developed by Sue Lloyd and Sara Wernham for children aged between 4 to 8 years. Jolly Phonic methodology is owned and published by Jolly Learning Limited UK, founded by Christopher Jolly. Jolly Learning Limited was founded in 1987 and started selling the first of Jolly Phonics products 5 years later. The company now sells over 2 million publications each year and is used in over 100 countries around. Jolly Phonics Program is an interesting multi-sensory effective program that teaches phonics, writing, word recognition and early spelling skills in a fun and interactive way, specifically designed for young children. The children are not just taught the alphabets sounds but all the 42 main letter sounds are split into seven groups. 

· Learning the Letter Sounds (42 Sounds)

· Learning Letter Formation 

· Reading (Blending)

· Identifying the Sounds in Words (Segmenting)

· Tricky words (Irregular words)

Independent studies find that, after one year's teaching, children taught with Jolly Phonics have an average reading age around 12 months ahead of their actual age. Their spelling age is usually slightly further ahead.
